Meet Ira...

Mark and Amanda visited the annual Doonside bull sale a couple of weeks ago and were delighted to come home with a pretty special purchase...
This is lot 20, Doonside Ira Hayes entering the selling ring.
The top ranked bull of the sale has the attributes we value here at Bimbadeen -
exceptional length, strength right through, a clean poll, outstanding temperament, a tidy underline and phenomenal eye muscle area.
We have big plans for Ira, and thank Bill and Kaye Geddes for preparing and offering such an outstanding bull for sale.
Keep your eyes peeled for some offspring photos in about 12 months time!
...
We also spent some time at Doonside and other venues over the past couple of weeks shooting a promotional video for Australian Brangus with Rockhampton cameraman Brad Keyworth. We have been working closely with Beef Australia to get a dual promotion for our events up and ready for Paraguay's World Brangus Congress later this month.
...
We hope to see everyone at the ABCA bull and female sale in Rockhampton in a couple of weeks time.
Cheers!

Introducing some 2009 weaner bulls

The 2009 Winter Brangus magazine is now out, featuring this photo in the Bimbadeen ad, on the back cover.
Some young red bulls 'chatting' at the trough!
...
We thought you may like a closer look at some out our 2008-2009 drop of red and black bulls currently being kept near the house at Upson Downs...

While most of these boys will only be available at next year's Brangus sales, we do have a selection of two-year-old still available. Call Bruce, Mark or Grant to book your inspection.
...
We always love hearing back from our past clients too - don't hesitate to ring or email to let us know how our bulls or females have worked for you! We will also be at the Rockhampton Brangus sale in a few weeks time. If you spot any of us there, grab us for a chat.
...
Hope to catch you around!

Beef Week action

Beef Week 2009 was a very hectic time for all at Bimbadeen.
Not only were we busy with preparing and showing some of our stud animals....
...but we were flat strap catching up with clients and fellow Brangus breeders over the six days, as well as assisting with the launch of the Brangus World Congress, to be held in Australia is three year's time! There was no rest for the wicked!

The standard of Brangus at Beef 2009 was outstanding - the largest ever showing of our breed there - and we were proud to be part of this excellent exhibition of red and black Brangus cattle.

Jeff Frank did a good job with the fitting of our team - our bulls held their own out in the arena and our heifer did well in her class.
Among those we were delighted to catch up with at the event were the Dunn and Gordon families, who gave us some great reports from their Bimbadeen purchases. It's feedback like this that confirms our belief in the type of easy handling, low maintenance cattle that we breed.

Our littlest helpers were doing a sterling job in assisting us in the promotions department, and we were delighted with the amount of entries people dropped into our black bin to try and win our $1500 genetics package giveaway. If you were ringside, you may have caught our Bimbadeen poddies helping pass out entry forms... The lucky winner (drawn on the final day by ABCA president Alan Schutt) was Lachlan Miller of Warwick. Congratulations Lachlan - a great start for your cattle breeding future!

It was also great to be help launch Australia's effort in hosting the 2012 Brangus World Congress. We managed to stay behind the camera, as ABCA President Alan Schutt, Congress Chairman Ian Galloway and Beef Week CEO Noel Landry posed with Reg Robinson's lovely black Brangus Bull at the media launch. Amanda has promised not to try and use a bull as a canvas again in the near future!! It's trickier than it looks, folks.

She was also stunned to learn that her late-night entry in ABC's Battle of the Cattle contest - where cattle breeders were urged to send in their argument as to why their breed was the best (in 100 words or less) took out second place. Amanda missed the call from Robin McConchie but was alerted to the news by lots of well-wishers as she emerged from a seminar. The poem is on the front page of the Bimbadeen site.

...

Before we sign off, we must say Congratulations to Brad and Jane Saunders of Charlevue Brangus, whose lovely black cow took out Champion Female of Beef 2009, and Ian and Anne Galloway, whose red bulls won Champion Brangus Bull of the show.We are very excited to see the Australian Brangus breed developing, getting the recognition it so deserves, and grabbing hold of a great opportunity to steer it's own course into the future.

What a great time to be a Brangus breeder!

Until our next update...

Cheers from the Bimbadeen Team!

Giveaway at Beef Week!

Well things are getting hectic here at Bimbadeen in the lead-up to Beef Week 09.
Among the many things we are preparing is a special giveaway of Bimbadeen genetics.
.
We have compiled a semen package worth $1500 comprising red and black brangus bloodlines, and all you have to do to win it is drop your businesscard into us.
Keep your eye out for our fliers...
...and the Black Bimbadeen Box to drop your card into.
It's as easy as that!
We will draw the winner on the last day of Beef Week.
...
Among the other things keeping Amanda out of mischief has been some groundwork for marketing of the 2012 World Brangus Congress.
We have printed up a banner, and will have some logos for Brangus Association members to consider (thanks for the help Brittany!).
We also need lots of images of brangus cattle out in paddock situations,
a little like this...
and this...and even this...
If you can help out please contact Amanda - bimbadeen@bordernet.com.au
...
We look forward to catching up with you at Rocky!
Cheers

Beef Week Preparations

Hello from Bimbadeen...
April is upon us and Beef Week is just around the corner.
How the year has flown so far!
Like many of you we are beginning to think about the Brangus World Congress which is taking place at the next Beef Week in 2012. With this in mind, we have decided to take a small team to this year's event in Rockhampton to support the brangus turnout.
We are pleased to have gathered a small, young team of cattle, with Jeff Frank (pictured) fitting out for this event. The Bimbadeen team will consist two black bulls, one red bull and one black heifer. All are only 15 months old and have behaved well despite a short lead-up to their 'practice runs' at a couple of local shows. Bimbadeen Decree (D0124)

Bimbadeen Desire (D0150)
Bimbadeen Dozer (D0238)
.
We look forward to seeing you at Beef -
a post coming up on our activities shortly!
Cheers

2009 postcard

We're back!
As the boys get stuck into the '09 brand (we are about halfway through as this post goes up) Amanda has been busy with the camera.
2009 promises to be an exciting year both for Bimbadeen and for the Brangus breed in Australia. We are delighted with the fall of calves this year, as the Bimbadeen stud enters its 53rd year of breeding Brangus cattle. We are also lucky to have had a reasonable start to the year with a couple of inches rain falling across our Eidsvold properties. The cattle are certainly enjoying the grass, and are looking shiny and content.
The team at Bimbadeen watch with interest as the ABCA takes over as hosts for the World Congress (officially taking over from Uraguay later on this year). The event will be held in 2012 and will bring breeders from all over the world to our shores. A couple of us will help out with this massive project, ably led by Mr Ian Galloway of Duarran. With so many talented people involved in our breed and in the organisation of this congress, it is an exciting time to be a Brangus breeder!

We hope all you cattle breeders are enjoying some good weather too, and look forward to catching up with you at Beef 2009 in Rockhampton in May (if not before).
Cheers
The Bimbadeen Team
